One of my American Lit kids just finished his make up test. He scored 52 out of 220. While he failed miserably, he has made history. His essay question will live on in examples of what not to write for the rest of my career.
He was supposed to choose three essay questions (out of seven) to analyze. Each one was worth 25 points. They were to be full paragraphs (or more) and fully supported and developed. But for some reason he only wrote one response, though it was the third question of the seven, so maybe that's where he got it???
Question --
3. How is "Wake Up Call" reflective of "The American Dream/Nightmare."
Response --
"In both stories there is a ton of thinking and they both were somewhat just like each other in many ways."
My response --
I am now a dumber person for having read that. First off, it says absolutely nothing. It's all filler and bs. Second, there aren't two stories. One was a story ("Wake Up Call") and the other was the theme/unit we studied. He did succeed in one area - proving how little he knows about what he is talking about.
What a way to end the day.
