Driving in winter weather sucks. This morning made me regret the descriptions I wrote in yesterday’s blog. Screw seeing nature’s replicas of Rothko’s work in the clouds. Screw deer scampering in the fading light. I was trying to get to work alive. An inch of snow coated the road until I was out of my hometown and headed north to work. Then the wind had blown the roads clear. But that didn’t stop overly cautious drivers from crawling along the road and hoarding themselves into long lines of six to eight cars, which are nearly impossible to pass, for there will usually be another pack of cars crawling toward me in the other lane.
Then, just a few blocks from work, a moron pulled out in front of me. I was going 45 and he was going 15. I attempted to stop, but the road was glare ice. He could have simply waiting for me to pass by and then pull out instead of pulling out right in front of me. The worst thing was that he only had to travel a few hundred yards until he turned off! I’m not looking forward to five more months of this.
